Why Isn’t My Land Rover Pivi Pro Updating Maps? (Connectivity Fixes)

Help! My Land Rover Pivi Pro Isn't Updating its Maps.

The beauty of Pivi Pro is its effortless over-the-air (OTA) map updates. But what happens when they stop? If you suspect your maps are outdated, it's almost always due to a connectivity or settings issue. Here's what to check.

Step 1: Check Your In-Car Settings

This resolves the majority of issues. Navigate through your Pivi Pro screen:

  • Check Connectivity: Go to Settings > All > Connectivity.
    • Ensure ‘Mobile Data' is toggled ON.
    • Look for the signal icon (4G/LTE) at the top of the screen. If it's missing or has no bars, the car has no connection.
  • Check Software Update Permissions: Go to Settings > All > Software Update.
    • Make sure you have accepted the Terms & Conditions.
    • Ensure the toggle for automatic updates is ON.

Step 2: Check Your Environment

  • Get a Signal: The car can't download a multi-gigabyte map file if it's parked in an underground garage or a rural dead zone. Drive the vehicle to an area with strong, consistent cellular service.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi: The most reliable way to download a large update is to connect the car to a strong Wi-Fi network. Go to Settings > All > Connectivity > Wi-Fi and connect it to your home network. Often, the download will begin overnight once connected.

Step 3: Check Your Subscription Status Online

The OTA updates are tied to your ‘Connected Navigation' subscription.

  1. Log into your Land Rover InControl account on a web browser.
  2. Navigate to the subscriptions section and verify that your navigation service is active and has not expired. If it has, you must renew it online before OTA updates will resume.

Step 4: Perform a Pivi Pro Soft Reset

As a last resort, you can try a soft reset of the infotainment system. Press and hold the power/volume button for about 15-20 seconds until the screen goes black and the Land Rover logo reappears. This reboots the system and can sometimes resolve minor software glitches.

If you've tried all these steps and maps are still not updating after a few days, there may be a deeper issue with the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) that requires a professional diagnosis.
