SX-TOOL JET Master Tutorial: Getting Started
Introduction
Welcome to the SX-TOOL JET Master, the most powerful engineering and diagnostic tool for modern JLR vehicles. This guide will walk you through the initial setup and basic functions to get you started on the path to diagnostic mastery. This tutorial assumes you have already purchased and installed the software.
Step 1: VCI Configuration
The first step is to ensure JET Master can communicate with your VCI. We recommend our SX-DOIP for universal compatibility.
- Connect your VCI to your PC via USB. Ensure the drivers are installed correctly (usually done automatically or with the supplied VCI manager).
- Launch the JET Master software.
- Navigate to the ‘Settings' or ‘VCI Configuration' menu.
- Select your VCI from the dropdown list. If using a J2534 device (for sx-can soft), you will select the Passthru driver. If using our SX-DOIP or JLR Enet (for sx-tool DoIP vehicles), select it directly.
- Click ‘Save' or ‘Apply'. The software is now linked to your hardware.
Step 2: Connecting to a Vehicle & Reading the VIN
- Connect the VCI to the vehicle's OBD2 port and turn the ignition on.
- In JET Master, click ‘Read VIN'.
- The software will automatically identify the vehicle, its model year, and key systems. This confirms you have a stable connection.
Step 3: Basic Functions – Reading Fault Codes
- With the vehicle identified, navigate to the ‘Diagnostics' or ‘DTC' tab.
- Click ‘Read All Modules'.
- JET Master will now poll every control unit on the vehicle's network and display a comprehensive list of all stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), including the highly detailed, manufacturer-specific codes not visible on generic scanners.
Step 4: Introduction to CCF Editing
- Navigate to the ‘Vehicle Configuration' or ‘CCF' tab.
- Click ‘Read CCF from Vehicle'. This will download the car's ‘As-Built' configuration file.
- CRITICAL: Before making ANY changes, immediately click ‘Save to File' and save this original, unmodified CCF to a safe location on your computer. This is your backup.
- You can now browse the list of parameters, make changes, and use the ‘Write to Vehicle' function when ready.
Conclusion
This SX-TOOL JET Master tutorial has only scratched the surface. You have taken the first steps in using a tool with immense power. We encourage you to explore other functions like ‘Service Routines' and ‘Live Data' to fully appreciate its capabilities. Always remember to back up original files before writing any changes to the vehicle.
